About Zachary Chang-Otañez

 

Zachary Chang-Otañez is a Freshman at Berklee College of Music. His interest in music began when he first started playing drums at age three. At age ten, he joined School of Rock’s House Band, performing covers at a variety of venues. He later formed two independent bands, with which he recorded original music at professional studios. Utilizing his musical experience, along with his ability to sing and play a variety of instruments, Zach Chang wrote his first solo EP (Coronal Mass Ejection), a classical EP (Curtains), and two singles. Zach’s musical inspirations include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, John Mayer, and Frédéric Chopin.

Finishing recording drums for Stardust - check out the drum recording setup: Gretsch Renown shells, Zildjian cymbals, and lots of Moongel and duct-tape/tissue dampers. Recording engineer trying out an AKG 414XL microphone on the ride cymbal to get a more pristine high end.
